100 Days of Safeguarding – Day 81 – IICSA Report into CSE by Organised Gangs
This week the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse published its latest report: Child Sexual Exploitation by Organised Groups.
The report concludes that the exploitation of children by organised groups is an issue across the country, and it is very important that comprehensive support is provided to children deemed ‘at risk’ of CSE, as well as those known to be victims. Those in residential care and children with a disability were highlighted as two particularly vulnerable groups.
The report makes six recommendations, including the need for updated government guidance, the important of comprehensive local data, and that consideration should be given to ban independent or semi-independent placements for at risk 16/17 year old’s.
