Ariel Trust Resources – Autumn 2024 Training Dates Available (see below)

Ariel Trust is offering your school FREE access to online staff training and 3 resources aimed at equipping children with the skills necessary to resist the processes associated with grooming, radicalisation, and exploitation. These resources offer age-appropriate materials tailored for pupils in years 5 & 6.

Thanks to the funding from the Merseyside Violence Reduction Partnership, the online training and resources are available free to Merseyside primary schools. After participating in the training, schools will gain complete access to the online resources for year 5 and 6 pupils.

If you are interested in accessing any of the resources, please contact [email protected]

A range of sessions can also be accessed:

Grassing or Grooming

Grassing or Grooming focuses on criminal gangs and asks pupils to practice skills they can use to resist the tactics that those gangs use to groom children. By using these resources as part of a coherent programme, pupils can be offered an opportunity to practice and hone skills that they can use to identify risks and adopt strategies to minimise those risks.

Online training dates are:

Thursday 10th October, 3.30-4.30

Monday 4th November, 3.30-4.30

Send Me A Selfie (Skills for Healthy Relationships)

We have recently launched a new Send me a Selfie website, containing additional content designed to help you develop children’s refusal and resistance skills more effectively. Send Me A Selfie tackles the issues arising from the sharing of images online. The animation and supporting lessons allow pupils to focus on the pressure they might feel to share images and the consequences if they do. Pupils will explore issues about consent and practice refusal skills, how to say no if they feel pressure to share something with which they are not comfortable.

We have employed a team of theatre practitioners who will provide you with step-by-step instructions, showing you how forum theatre can be employed in your classroom.

Online training dates are:

Wednesday 25th September, 3.30-4.30

Thursday 7th November, 3.30-4.30

Tuesday 3rd December, 3.30-4.30

To book, please contact [email protected]

 Skills to Resist Radicalisation

The Skills to Resist Radicalisation resource focuses on the development of refusal and resistance skills. A series of short films provide scenarios taken from real life and pupils are asked to step into the role of characters from the films. Pupils practice communication skills that they might use to resist the process of grooming.

The resource will supply teachers with age-appropriate tools and enable them to create a safe space to talk with pupils about extremism and radicalisation, as per the statutory Prevent Duty.

Online training dates are:

Tuesday 8th October, 3.30-4.30

Monday 9th December, 3.30-4.30
