100 Days of Safeguarding – Day 88 – Children’s Society Exploitation Language Guide
Today’s message includes an updated guide from the Children’s Society on the appropriate use of language when discussing with children their experience of exploitation.
It is imperative that appropriate terminology is used when speaking with and discussing children and young people who have been exploited or are at risk of exploitation. Language implying that a child or young person is responsible in any way for abuse and crime that they are subjected to must always be avoided, and it is vitally important to recognise that a child cannot consent to their own exploitation.
