Children and Young People Vaping Spotlight Sessions
Vaping continues to be an emerging risk to the health of children and young people nationally and on Wirral. Whilst vapes and e-cigarettes can be a helpful stop-smoking tool for adults with an existing addiction to cigarettes, they can cause considerable issues when used by children and young people. There has been a steady increase in use of vapes among young people in recent years, as well as a significant increase in exposure to vape promotion targeted at the younger population. There are now much greater levels of access, availability and affordability for young people including a worrying prevalence of oversized and illegal vapes.
To address concerns, the Children and Young People’s Vaping Response Group andWirral Public Health will be delivering presentations on ow we can work together to tackle youth vaping. The purpose of these sessions is to share key public health messages around vaping, to equip the Wirral education and CYP workforce with information to be able to discuss vaping with the children and young people they support, and to signpost to resources and support around vaping. There will also be an opportunity to raise any concerns or queries around vaping.
